 Bottom-placed Derbyshire agonisingly   

 fell three runs short of a remarkable  

 win over the leaders on a thrilling    

 final day's play at Chester-le-Street. 

                                        

 Durham took their overnight 263-3 to   

 375-8dec, with Paul Collingwoob making 

 112 and Dale Benkenstein 162no. Chasing

 280 to win, Durham were indebted to    

 Stephen Stubbings (101) but Luke Sutton

 (36no) and Ant Botha (7no) fell short  

 off Brad Williams' final over.
