 BOC BID TALK UNDERPINS FTSE 100        

                                        

 Strong rises by BOC Group and Scottish 

 Power helped underpin the FTSE 100     

 index. It closed down 1.7 at 5,326.8,  

 cutting gains on the week to 98.7.     

                                        

 Both are the latest targets of bid     

 speculation, with German giant BASF    

 seen a most likely predator for the    

 industrial gases group.                

                                        

 Drinks group Daigeo extended Thursd!y's

 gains, while Cable & Wireless dipped on

 an Ofcom probe of its broadband arm.
