 Hastings Congress, 28 Dec-6 Jan    1/9 

                                        

 This year's Hastings Congress, the 81st

 in the series, featured a 10-round     

 swiss event in which 100 players took  

 part.                                  

                                        

 The tournament was won by GM Valery    

 Neverov of Ukraine who scored 8/10.    

 Sharing 2nd place were IM Vincent Colin

 (France), GM Sergey Erenburg (Israel)  

 and Merab Gagunashvili (Georgia) on 7½.

                                        

 12-year-old Parimarjan Negi of India   

 completed his IM qualification and also

 gained a GM norm, as did English IM    

 Simon Williams, who finished on 7/10.
