 JAPAN                                  

 Parts of Japan have been seeing their  

 worst winter conditions for more than  

 20 years.                              

                                        

 Northern and western parts have been   

 hit the most, with some places having  

 150cm (6 inches) of lying snow.        

                                        

 Disruption has been widespread,        

 affecting road and rail networks.      

                                        

 It's mild at the moment, but more heavy

 snow is expected during Friday.
