 Arsenal step up chase for Walcott  1/2 

 Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit  

 of Southampton striker Theo Walcott by 

 making a £12m offer for the teenager.  

                                        

 It is not clear yet whether the Saints 

 will accept the bid, but further       

 negotiations between the two clubs are 

 expected to continue this week.        

                                        

 BBC Sport understands Chelsea retain a 

 strong interest in Walcott, but the 16-

 year-old has made it clear he would    

 prefer a move to the Gunners.          

                                        

 Earlier, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger had

 let slip that a deal was almost done.
