 Confirmed Lib Dem leadership contenders

 Lib Dem leadership candidate Chris     

 Huhne worked as a financial journalist 

 and economist before entering politics.

                                        

 He was elected as a member of the      

 European Parliament in 1999, where he  

 was the economic spokesman for the pan-

 European Liberal group.                

                                        

 Mr Huhne became Eastleigh's MP in 2005 

 and was asked by Charles Kennedy to be 

 the Lib Dem's spokesperson on tax and  

 public spending.                       

                                        

 He and his economist wife Vicky have   

 five children.
