 KT Tunstall's relief at 2005 success   

 For KT Tunstall, influences as varied  

 as punk legend Patti Smith and native  

 Scotland's rough seascapes lie behind  

 her outstandingly successful debut.    

                                        

 In particular, the songwriter was      

 inspired by the famous image of singer 

 Smith on her iconic album Horses.      

                                        

 "I aspired to what this image was about

 - which was a woman dressed in man's   

 clothes with such mystery, but such    

 confidence and attitude and character."

                                        

 "I just thought, 'that's so what I want

 to be when I grow up'."
