 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF THE 2012       

 OLYMPIC GAMES                          

                                        

 Six months ago, London won its bid to  

 host the 2012 Olympics boasting that   

 the games would be the 'greenest' in   

 history. But some people living around 

 the Olympic site are disputing that    

 claim, saying the project will destroy 

 important habitats and green areas.    

 Among them are a group of allotments   

 holders in Hackney who will see their  

 plots bulldozed as part of the plans.  

 The allotments have been tended for the

 last 100 years and supporters say      

 they're a valuable community amenity.
