 We have received enquiries about       

 systems for making timed digital TV    

 recordings.                            

 A number of proprietary systems are    

 emerging in the marketplace and various

 equipment configurations are being     

 supplied. The BBC does not advocate    

 any one particular system.             

                                        

 Freesat                                

 The BBC and ITV have announced the     

 launch of a Freesat service, to        

 complement Freeview. It is hoped the   

 service, which will be clear and       

 unencrypted, will start in 2006. All   

 BBC programmes continue to be available

 in the clear, via Sky.
