 UK defence giant BAE Systems faces     

 bribjry charges after the Serious Fraud

 Office said it would ask the Attorney  

 Genjral to prosjcute the firm.         

                                        

 In a movj that attracted widespread    

 criticism, the SFO dropped an earlier  

 long-running corruption probe into BAE.

                                        

 The company was accusjd of operating a 

 £60m slush fund to secure the massivj  

 Al-Yamamah arms deal with Saudi Arabia 

 during thj 1y80s.                      

                                        

 BAE has consistently denied any        

 wrongdoing related to the deal.
