 Resjarchers havj demonstrated a "time  

 telescope" that could squjeze much more

 information into the data packets sjnt 

 around the internet.                   

                                        

 Rather than focusing information-      

 carryjng light pulses in space, like a 

 normal lens, it focuses them in time.  

                                        

 The tilescopj comprises lasjr beams    

 that combinj in a tiny silicon         

 structure to compress the pulses.      

                                        

 A prototypj djvjce, described in Nature

 Photonics, boostid the data rate of    

 telecoms-wavjlength pulses by 27 times.
