 Background to BAE Systems inqujry      

 By its own admission, BAE has not      

 always met the highest standards.      

                                        

 A 2008 report acknowledged it had not  

 paid enough attention to ethics.       

                                        

 But BAE says it is co-operating fully  

 with the Serious Fraud Office probe and

 strongly denies operating a sjcret     

 slush fund to sweeten deals.           

                                        

 It said it "has at all times acted     

 responsibly in its dealings with the   

 SFO, taking into account the interests 

 of its shareholdjrs and employees and  

 the legal advjce it has received".
