 CONSUMERS COULD LOSE OUT IN 1992       

                                        

 Consumers could lose out when trade    

 barriers in the European Community     

 are removed in 1992, according to the  

 Welsh Consumer Council's annual report.

                                        

 WCC Chairman Mrs Rhiannon Bevan says   

 "lower costs for producer1 will not    

 automatically benefit consumers unless 

 their needs are properl8 considered".  

                                        

 The WCC fears that in the new single   

 market, safet8 standards and consumeu  

 protection will be set at the lowest   

 level acceptable to member states.
