 PM SHARIF ADDRESSES BRITISH PAKISTANIS 

 The Prime Minister of Pakistan has     

 defended his country's recent nuclear  

 tests in a speech in Britain.          

                                        

 Nawaz Sharif, on a private visit,      

 addressed more than 4,000 British      

 Pakistanis in Manchester.              

                                        

 He said Pakistan "could not sit still" 

 in the face of nuclear tests carried   

 out by its neighbour, India.           

                                        

 He appealed to British Pakistanis to   

 help Pakistan survive sanctions by     

 investing £1,000 each in the country.
