 TOTTENHAM 2-1 ASTON VILLA              

 Paul Allen's 82nd minute winner gave   

 Tottenham the points that took them    

 into third place in the League.        

                                        

 Villa had taken the lead after 33      

 minutes when David Platt headed home a 

 Gordan Cowans free-kick for his seventh

 goal of the season.                    

                                        

 Spurs levelled on the stroke of half-  

 time - Gary Lineker heading over the   

 line after Gary Mabbutt hit the post.  

                                        

 Allen scored the winner after being put

 clear by Paul Walsh in a match marred  

 when Spurs' David Howells was carried  

 off after swallowing his tongue.
