   Fresh bid to free hostages           

                                        

                                        

 Western diplomats have resumed efforts 

 to free five hostages - including two  

 Britons - held by Kashmiri militants.  

                                        

 The Al-Faran separatist group has said 

 it will consider releasing the hostages

 if their families persuade India to    

 free 21 Al-Faran rebels from jail.

 of the hostages, but with no comment.
