 80-MILE NHS TRIP: LABOUR WANTS INQUIRY 

 Labour's health spokesman Henry McLeish

 has called for an inquiry into the case

 of badly burnt man who was sent on an  

 80-mile trip for hospital treatment.   

                                        

 Mr McLeish said it was an "absolute    

 scandal" and blamed government reforms 

 of the NHS for the situation.          

                                        

 The MP demanded an immediate inquiry   

 by the district health authority.      

                                        

 And he urged the Government to listen  

 to its critics and "start to put       

 patients before the current            

 fragmentation of the health service".
