 The Queen has spoken of her hope for   

 world peace in her Christmas Day       

 message. Juliet Gilkes reports:        

                                        

 While much media attention remains     

 fixed on issues constitutional and     

 personal of the possibility of divorce 

 between the Prince and Princess of     

 Wales, the Queen has chosen to look at 

 wider events.                          

                                        

 She praised the peacemakers and to     

 those who had given their lives for it.

                                        

 And she recalled the commemorations in 

 May and August, 50 years on from World 

 War II; commemorations underlining     

 hopes for "peace in our time".
