 During 1995 annuity rates fell by 8%   

 while during the same period the       

 FT-SE 100 rose by over 17%.            

                                        

 So, while people buying annuities were 

 getting lower rates, the value of their

 pension funds as growing, more than    

 compensating for the reduction in      

 annuity rates.                         

                                        

 At the beginning of the year Equitable 

 Life, Royal Life, Standard Life and    

 Norwich Union were offering the best   

 rates for single life annuities.       

                                        

 This month, Sun Life of Canada,        

 Standard Life, Canada Life and Norwich 

 Union are offering the best rates.
