 MINISTER ATTACKS EX-PARKHURST GOVERNOR 

 Prisons minister Ann Widdecombe has hit

 back at ex-Parkhurst governor John     

 Marriott, who has criticised government

 handling of a breakout at the prison.  

                                        

 She said a report into last January's  

 breakout, which led to Mr Marriott's   

 dismissal, made it clear a series of   

 faults lay behind the escape.          

                                        

 She told BBC Radio 4 that Mr Marriott  

 could not escape blame for some of them

 and it was clear that certain          

 procedures had not been followed.      

                                        

 "It is very much down to how a governor
