Snowball-throwing fans in New York
almost forced the abandonment of an NFL
game for the first time ever as San
Diego paid a visit to the Giants.
Spectators pelted San Diego backroom
staff for most of the second half and
carried on even after a tannoy warning
that New York could forfeit the game.
Chargers official Sid Brooks was hit in
the face and knocked unconscious for a
moment but he had the last laugh as San
Diego won 27-17 to reach the play-offs.
Police arrested 14 people and more than
100 were ejected for hurling snowballs.
