 UK DEFICIT NARROWS TO £1.61bn          

                                        

 Britain's balance of payments deficit  

 narrowed sharply in Q3 to £1.61bn from 

 £2.35bn in the previous quarter, the   

 Central Statistical Office said.       

                                        

 Meanwhile, UK gross domestic product   

 rose by a seasonally adjusted 0.6% in  

 the third quarter to give a            

 year-on-year rise of 2.1%.             

                                        

 The Treasury said the rise in GDP      

 showed evidence of broad-based recovery
