 SCHOOL CHANGES REPORT DISMISSED        

                                        

 The Government has dismissed reports   

 of plans for the school curriculum to  

 allow 14-year-olds to pursue vocational

 course such as bricklaying and plumbing

                                        

 A report in the Independent on Sunday  

 newspaper suggested Sir Ron Dearing's  

 review of the curriculum would tilt    

 towards vocational training.           

                                        

 The Department of Education says the   

 claims were "speculation" and academic 

 training will remain a priority.
