 SFO DECIDES AGAINST LEESON TRIAL IN UK 

 The Serious Fraud Office says it will  

 not seek to extradite former Barings   

 trader Nick Leeson for trial in the UK.

                                        

 Mr Leeson, whose Singapore dealings led

 to the bank's collapse, is now likely  

 to stand trial in Singapore, where he  

 faces up to 14 years in jail. See 114  

                                        

 The SFO said its recent interviews with

 Mr Leeson did "not substantially add"  

 to the information they had already.   

                                        

 "Having considered the matter, the SFO 

 has not altered its view that Singapore

 remains the principal jurisdiction for 

 a criminal prosecution," it added.
