TUC LEAVES MINIMUM WAGE FIGURE OPEN
Delegates to the Trades Union Congress
in Brighton have backed a measure
calling for a national minimum wage.
The vote was overwhelmingly in
favour, but they did not set a figure.
Many unions had been pressing for a
figure of £4.15 an hour.
As the debate began a group of women
trade unionists interrupted
proceedings.
They were demanding that the congress
insisted on the £4.15 rate.
