SCARGILL ATTACKS BLAIR'S UNION STAND
National Union of Mineworkers president
Arthur Scargill has bitterly criticised
Labour leader Tony Blair.
Addressing the TUC conference, he said
Mr Blair had received applause when he
addressed delegates yesterday, yet he
had told the unions "to get stuffed".
Mr Scargill said he wanted a Labour
government but not one "which practices
capitalism better than the Tories".
A motion by the NUM, which included a
reference to Clause 4, was heavily
defeated by delegates.
