UK claimant unemployment fell by around
18,000 last month to some 2,295,400.
This followed a revision of the figures
for July to show a fall of 200 instead
of the 5,500 increase first published.
As a result, August becomes the 24th
consecutive month to witness a decline
in the number of jobless.
The overall jobless rate fell to 8.2%
from July's 8.3%.
The workforce in employment in June was
25,730,000 - a quarterly rise of some
16,000 and a year's rise of 252,000.
