 The dollar increased overnight gains   

 against the yen and flew past the      

 Y102.00 level during the day.          

                                        

 At 1715, it was quoted at DM 1.4825 and

 Y102.45 as against 1.4715 and Y100.75  

 at yesterday's London close.           

                                        

 The dollar had been buoyed by the Bank 

 of Japan after its intervention in the 

 market overnight on Monday.
