Oldham's Martin Crompton has ruled
himself out of next month's senior
World Cup by opting to play for Ireland
in the Emerging Nations competition.
The 25-year-old was named in England's
initial squad of 40 but has accepted a
place in the 21-strong Irish party.
Crompton, who qualifies for Ireland
through his grandparents, is joined in
the squad by clubmate Paul Topping.
Former Widnes assistant boss John
Myler has been appointed as the new
coach of St Helens' academy side
following Graham Liptrot's resignation.
